OUR SToRY

It depends on who you ask. Like any typical self-respecting millennial, we found each other in January 2018 on the dating app, Bumble - the most "PG" dating app of our generation. After a few weeks of vetting each other's music taste and who was the more experienced hiker, we met for coffee at Boulevard Park in Fairhaven, WA. In true Haley fashion, she showed up first, bought both coffees, and in an attempt to take the nervous edge off, took every opportunity to comment on how cute every dog in the park was. In true Shane fashion, he spilled coffee all over his pants and told her how beautiful her eyes are. The rest is a long winding road of committing to being the best version of ourselves and learning who we were, individually and together.

2018 was a year full of adventure. From the mountains and lakes of the North Cascades, the shores of the Oregon Coast, and peaceful inlets of the San Juan Islands, we put in the work to understand what made both of us tick...and ticked us off. A shocking discovery on St. Patricks' day had everyone at a loss for words after learning we had previously met 5 years prior as camping neighbors involved in a series of young-20's- unforgettable-events at Sasquatch! Music Festival in George, WA. By December, we were living together in Haley's rental and Shane bought a quaint 1924 craftsman house in the same neighborhood.

2019 started (and hasn't ended) spending all of our dime and time updating our new home. We quickly found, much to our immense surprise and joy, we were a powerhouse team with the same values around intentionality. That summer we spent three weeks in Europe with Shane's family - experiencing Iceland, Ireland, Switzerland, and Germany - the trip of a lifetime. Here is where we navigated family dynamics, expectations, boundaries, and blindly relied on each other's strengths to navigate in unfamiliar places. The warmth of Irish culture, lots of Bavarian beer and the incredible immensity of the Swiss Alps are all memories that we will forever remember of the early years of our story.

2020 was a year of unknown and uncertainty for much of the world. We both worked strictly from home the entire year, sharing wi-fi bandwidth and every square inch of our house, 24/7. We took a lot of tea breaks and mental health dog walks in-between the many Zoom calls. Despite it being a challenging year, we still got to lay in hammocks and look up at the forested canopy of the North Cascades, sink our feet in the sand in Westport, get laps in at Mt. Baker, and re-side and paint the entire exterior of our home. That year we were thankful to have each other to lean on.

2021, we spent trying to bring a sense of normalcy to go back out into the world and safely fill ourselves with things that bring us joy. Trips to the coast, camping at Baker Lake, biking around town, and spending weekends in cozy cabins with friends and family in Leavenworth, San Juan Island and Glacier. In September, we were sharing mai-tai's on the beach, hiking waterfalls, and snorkeling with turtles in Kauai. This trip was a type of bliss that gave us a renewed sense of adventure and wonder to be the best versions of ourselves, for each other.

This brings us to 2022, the year Shane tried his hardest to pull a fast one on Haley. After one failed attempt to propose (the vibes just weren't right), and Haley actively trying to not find anything out, Shane planned a trip to Orcas Island and proposed with his handmade cedar ring box behind a scraggly pine bush (Haley's one proposal request was some privacy) on top of Mt. Constitution with views of Bellingham, Point Roberts, and both the Olympic and Cascade ranges.

Wherever we find ourselves, together means we're home.

Thank you to all of you for being part of our story we are so excited to celebrate with you!

tHE GUYS

BRendeN

AKA Cragdog, Duke, Yo-hey. Shane's older brother and lifelong (literally) friend.

From the early days of Abercrombie & Fitch, to starting a punk rock band, to spending long weekends rock climbing in the wilderness, Brenden has always shared his experiences with his little brother as they grew up together. They share a lifelong bond that continues to grow side by side as they move through life's journey.

Brenden is an avid rock climber, snowboarder, mountaineer, and even published his own guide book! He lives in Tacoma, WA but you're more likely to find him out of cell service, on a crag with his partner Deanna.

Nic

AKA Nicolas, Neely. Bluegrass enthusiast and shredder extraordinaire.

Nic charged into Shane's world head-first at a punk rock house show in 2004, and before he knew it, he was a new band member, sparking a friendship that outlasted the the old band days and evolved through a shared love of live music and maintaining stoke.

Nic lives in Pierce County with his partner, Rachel. He is a master snowboarder and spends his winters in his favorite place in the world - deep in the Cascade mountains, especially on a pow day.

GErardo

AKA Raldo, xXr0gerb0bXx. Father, musician, artist, lover of life.

Gerardo and Shane have been close friends for over 20 years. Like Brenden and Nic, Gerardo was part of the old band crew, and has always been like a second brother to Shane. Gerardo is always up for an adventure, big or small; whether it's camping at the beach, going to a live concert, or a chill evening with friends, Gerardo never misses an opportunity to spend time with those he loves.

Gerardo lives in Tacoma, WA with his wife, Holly, and beautiful daughter, Luna. He enjoys playing music, creating art, and generally having a good time.

JAy

AKA J-money-millionaire. Lifelong friend. Swiss.

Jay and Shane met in the early days of kindergarten at Meeker Elementary and were fast friends. From Pokemon cards to guitar hero, from wild nights in the woods and games in the garage, Jay has been there through thick and thin. He has always been the first to offer a helping hand or lend an ear, and has never failed to show his true colors as an fun, caring, honest and exceptional friend.

Jay enjoys running in his free time and getting out into the woods or the family cabin in Packwood. Jay lives in Puyallup, WA and works at his family's company, Inderbitzin Distributers.

tINA

Tina and Haley met in the 4th grade during a debate of - is Harry Potter or Draco Malfoy cuter?! Honestly, the rest of this friendship was history.

To Haley, Tina is country music, and chicken strips, tolo dates and 16-year-old late night drives, field parties, Dr. Pepper, Bugles, matching cherry adorned robes, and all the stages of growing up together.

Tina is an Occupational Therapist living back in Whatcom County after living in Wyoming and Texas with her retired Airman husband, Jordan and her two daughters, Kenison and Logan.

sAraH

Sarah and Haley met in the fall of 2015 at Lydia Place when Sarah was fulfilling her MSW practicum placement.

Haley and Sarah's office banter was quick to develop and they quickly became the best of friends over a mutual love of plants, dogs, hiking, horoscopes, crafts, Instagram shorts, and seeing who could gross each other out first. Sarah was the first friend to meet Shane and is definitely the main reason Haley could never not have unlimited texting.

She's a native of Kansas who joined the Navy and found herself in the PNW for nearly 10 years before returning Kansas City, Missouri with her 16 year old West Highland Terrier, Turbo.

kAtIe

Katie and Haley met while being Instructors Assistants in the Communication Department at WWU. In the days of Western Wednesday, Katie and Haley headed downtown for progressive well drinks and reggae night at the Wild Buffalo. On the off nights, it would be wine and cupcakes while snuggled under blankets, watching HBO.

Katie is kind, down-to-earth, intentional, and such a gem of a human.

Katie works in internal communications at Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery and lives in Redmond, Washington with her partner Jake.

jeANIe

Jeanie and Haley met in class on their first day of freshman year at WWU. Running in to each other on campus, hugging and saying, "Lets hang out!". After a few years of this exchange, one day it stuck and they became inseparable.

They bonded over growing up in small communities, breakfast being the best meal of the day, and supported each other with every rude college boy, hangover, and professional endeavor. Their text exchanges are often short, "Hi Sister, love you!" because of the strong backbone of their friendship.

Jeanie lives with her fiancé Jesse in Portland, Oregon and works in DEI for Nike HQ.
